Finding Joy in Chapter Spot: The new LWVUS Membership platform, Chapter Spot, has the potential to ease various membership burdens, such as enrolling new members and handling membership renewals. LWVMI Co-President Paula Bowman and Berrien & Cass Counties Board Member Mike Schnable reviewed why the change was made and focused on the benefits of the new system, including membership renewals and enrolling new members. They also discussed access issues and other challenges members and leaders are encountering.
They held a very practical and engaging session. Lots of questions from attendees, some Mike and Paula could answer, and some we’ll need to elevate to our state league support contact, Jennifer Teller.
Treasurers and Roster Managers will need to monitor and attend monthly Zoom meetings on the status of the system to keep up with the latest changes and corrections.
Both Paula and Mike made it clear that information in ChapterSpot and Stripe will be changing quite a bit going forward as adjustments and corrections are made. And that’s a good thing.
One topic that came up that can affect us all are multiple credit card and bank charges when dues or donations are made through ChapterSpot. All 3 are listed with the same name (LWV) and have prompted flags or alerts from the credit card companies and banks. There are requests to have each charge identify the league it went to on the statement to alleviate this problem. This is one example of the dozen or so issues our league and others brought to the workshop, making it the fastest hour and 15 minutes of the convention for your treasurer.
