September 16: Public Library Millage: Get the Facts, St, Michael’s Episcopal Church, 7 pm
LWVGP will host a panel discussion on the public library millage renewal that will appear on the November 3 ballot.
The Grosse Pointe Public Library is asking voters to renew the current millage at the same rate for the next 15 years. The panel will explore the different aspects of how the public library is funded, followed by questions from the audience.
The League has a strong advocacy position in support of public library funding. Learn more about our position here under Social Policies. In June 2026, the League’s Board of Directors voted to support renewal of the library millage.
The program is free, but please register by September 10 at this link. We encourage you to invite your neighbors, friends, and colleagues to this informative community event.
September 21:Absentee Voter Ballot Preparation
There are two opportunities to assist our clerks in Grosse Pointe Park and Grosse Pointe Farms with preparing absentee voter ballots for mailing. Both events will take place on the same day and at the same time (September 21, 10 am, so you may sign up for only one location. Please use the links below to sign up.

Recent Events
LWVGP sent delegates to the LWV National Convention in Columbus, Ohio, in late June.
LWVGP members assisted local city clerks with the preparation of absentee ballots.
LWVGP supported the annual Pride Parade in Grosse Pointe on June 20, 2026.
LWVGP members Deb Sloss and Margriit Poynter (pictured above) staffed the League’s information table, with assistance from Julianne Phillips and Martha Hutting. Throughout the event, the League provided voter education, distributed informational materials, and shared information about League membership and activities.
League volunteers engaged with many community members, particularly young people preparing to leave for college. Volunteers discussed absentee voting options and emphasized the importance of developing a voting plan to ensure participation in upcoming elections. The League also answered questions and provided nonpartisan voter education to attendees who visited the table.
The event offered an excellent opportunity to connect with the community, promote civic engagement, and encourage informed participation in the democratic process.
