Basic Publications For Local Leagues: LWVMI Co-President Paula Bowman and LWVMI VP for Voter Services Judy Florian reviewed and provided templates for tjree key publications that can be tailored to a local League:
- A local membership brochure
- They Represent You” (also known as “Your Elected Officials”)
- A local (print) Voter Guide
Several publications were reviewed, including how to personalize a membership brochure, based on a template provided by LWVUS. The template can be designed in Canva, a graphic design platform for creating social media graphics, presentations, postcards, promotional merchandise and websites. Various types of voter guides were also presented. Local Leagues can either produce a comprehensive guide or one that lists the races and candidates. There are many options.
Many local Leagues produce an education pamphlet about the elected officials that represent voters in the community. LWVGP produces Your Government Officials (YGO) annually with updates from previous elections.
An additional publication that was presented was an annual report, which is a way to say ‘thank you’ to members, as well as provide a summary of the League’s activities during the year. This is a great way to have archival information for the local League’s history.
The audience asked a lot of great questions and also provided their own insights on the publications their local Leagues have provided for their members and communities.
