A New Member’s Perspective on the LWVMI 2025 Convention

My sincere thanks to the Grosse Pointe League for sponsoring me as a delegate to the 39th Biennial Convention. Having recently joined the organization, I anticipated learning more about our local, and Michigan Leagues. The expectations I had were exceed many times over. The venue was excellent in terms of location and facilities, the Grand Rapids League members were wonderful hosts. and the planning committee produced well organized, interesting, and informative programs throughout the weekend that started and concluded on time.

The First Plenary Session, on Friday evening, oriented me to activities that would follow throughout the weekend, and should be attended by all first-time Delegates, in my opinion. Participating in the Dine Around dinner at the Euro Bistro gave me an opportunity to meet League members from all over the State.

On Saturday I attended the Engaging Young Voters workshop, led by 2 excellent speakers, and the Finding Joy in Chapter Spot workshop, which will be helpful in my work on the Membership Committee.

I found myself in a welcoming group of 165 fellow League members and took away a very positive feeling about my membership in, and the future of, our organization.
