Prior to her recent retirement, Lynne served as a Wayne County Circuit Court Judge in the family division for 13 years and was the local judge in Grosse Pointe Woods for 17 years. Lynne worked on the specialized domestic violence court docket, sat on a county task force
for LGTBQ foster children, is an expert on the placement of Native American children in foster care, and has spoken out publicly against racial and ethnic profiling.
She is a past president of the AAUW-GP and the Women Lawyers Association-Wayne Region.
Holly Cory – Director Voter Services
After her retirement in 2022, Holly, a Detroit-area native, joined LWVGP.
She became interested in the voting process, especially after the last few elections. Since joining, Holly has attended the annual meetings and some of the programs and information events, worked on voter registration, and helped with some of the mailings.
She attended the Mercy College of Nursing (now merged with the University of Detroit) and was an RN for 40 years. She was at Bon Secours (now Corewell) in Grosse Pointe, and later worked in orthopedics and surgical services, and a care manager.
Holly has been an active member of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, and plays in the bell choir and is on the Outreach Council. She has also been on several mission trips, most recently to the Dominican Republic.
She has three children and four grandchildren – all in the area, and spends lots of time babysitting.
Ruth Hoover – Secretary
Ruth joined the League in April 2024, prompted by an invitation from her good friend Liz Martin (Chair of the LWVGP Observer Corps), to support the rights of voters, learn effective techniques to discuss democracy, and increase her understanding of public policy issues.
Since joining the League, she has participated in the October 2024 GOTV (Get Out The Vote) campaign, attended the Annual Planning Meeting in February 2025, and served as a member and Recorder of the Federal Judicial Study Group in March 2025.
Ruth has been a Grosse Pointe Woods resident since 1963, and attended Monteith, Brownell, and GP North. She earned her undergraduate degree from Western Michigan University, and an MBA from Wayne State University. She retired after 32 years in the Financial Services industry.
She has been active in the community and supports cancer patients and their families by providing comfort items like chemo caps and lap blankets through “Knit Michigan.” She also has been a volunteer tutor at the Dominican Literacy Center, working with adults to improve their reading skills.
She has been married for 41 years to Dave and is a busy grandma!
Judy Masserang – Membership Director
Sue Acton encouraged Judy to join League in 2020. She served as Secretary for the past four years, has served on the Advocacy Committee, and volunteered for nearly all Voter Services activities.
Judy says she joined and hoped to make a difference in the outcome of upcoming elections, and has stayed in the League for several reasons: the friends she has made, how smart League members are, and how she has been influenced to be politically knowledgeable and active.
Judy served as an election worker, assistant chair, and chair of election precincts in Grosse Pointe Woods for more than ten years.
She is a member of Grosse Pointe Memorial Church and sings in the choir.
Judy is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Grosse Pointe (2019-2020), and has also been president of the GP Rotary Foundation. She is currently the Club’s treasurer, and serves on many committees, including the Community Affairs Committee and the Scholarship Committee.
Diana Domin – Chair Nominating Committee
Diana joined League in 1996, following in the footsteps of her mother, the late Ann Kondak.
Diana has served LWVGP in numerous capacities, including serving as Secretary and the current nominating committee. She has stayed involved because of her interest in the League’s mission of voting rights and access.
She retired from commercial insurance in 2021, and is now traveling, babysitting, and reading.

Kathy Cernok – Elected member of the Nominating Committee
Kathy is originally from Chicago and lived in Ohio for 15 years before moving to Grosse Pointe Farms in 1989. She has raised three children here, and her two grandsons are currently attending Grosse Pointe South
Kathy worked as an executive assistant to the board of a Michigan-based event marketing company for 30 years, and retired in 2021.
Beginning in late 2020, Kathy began working at local polling places where she became acquainted with LWVGP members who also worked at the polls. Kathy joined the League because “after years of witnessing the political polarization of family, friends and neighbors, I realized the only way I could be a part of the solution is to get involved.”
She is currently a member of the Observer Corps and the Youth Outreach Committee.
