Note: Dawn Drozd has agreed to continue in her role of VP of Programs while serving as the President-Elect. In June 2025, Dawn will become Co-President with President Lynne Pierce, who has agreed to serve a second two-year term.
Thanks to our 2023-2024 LWVGP Nominating Committee for their hard work and efforts to nominate these terrific candidates. The committee included Chair Laura Larson, and members Judy Gafa, Julianne Phillips, and Anastasia Koutsopoulos.
Dawn Drozd is the owner of ClearVision Business Coaching and an author! She moved to Harper Woods in 2020, and has served the League as a member of the Observer Corps, Director of Programs, Vice-President of Programs, and is a member of the newly-formed Engage Democracy Committee. She looks forward to continuing to serve on the LWVGP Board.
Sue Acton has been an active member of LWVGP since 2016, and has served on the board in several capacities: Director Voter Services, President, Observer Corps Co-Chair, and Webmaster.
Sue served as the Outreach Coordinator at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church for several years, and is now enjoying her semi-retirement. She regularly substitute teaches in the Grosse Pointe Schools, is training to be a docent at the Detroit Institute of Arts, and volunteers with other orgnizations. Her passions are traveling for fun and visiting her children and grandchildren. Her hobbies include reading, quilting, crocheting, drawing, and exercising.
Gerianne LaPratt is employed part-time as manager of Custom Framing of Bloomfield. Her work day spans from design to sales to crafting. She joined the LWVGP in January 2023, the same month she was appointed to Harper Woods City Council. Geri was elected to the Harper Woods City Council in November 2023. She has enjoyed registering young voters at both Grosse Pointe North and Harper Woods High Schools. She is currently working with the LWVGP Engage Democracy Committee. Geri is married, has two adult sons, and a dog named Charlie.
Carol Lufburrow joined the League in December 2016 because of her deep concern for voting rights. In March 2017, she was asked to fill in as Treasurer – what she thought was a temporary assignment!
Carol’s 34-year career as a civilian analyst with the Department of the Army focused on program management, budget analysis, and manpower allocation.
She enjoys dining out, reading murder mysteries, fantasy, and current events books. She’s an avid gamer and avatar driver, always up for a good urban fantasy, whether on the page or on the screen.
Carol is happy her skills can be put to good use with the League’s mission. She looks forward to another term keeping LWVGP’s books in good order.
Catherine Dumke has lived in the Grosse Pointes since 1952. She worked as a legal secretary for 45 years in downtown Detroit, and also served as business manager for her late husband, Michael Derbyshire, a professional artist.
Over the years, Catherine has always looked to the League for non-partisan information on candidates and issues. As a regular attendee of the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council meetings, joining the League and its Observer Corps felt like a natural fit.
Catherine is also a member of the Grosse Pointe Woods Senior Citizens Commission, and serves as that group’s Secretary. She looks forward to the opportunity to continue serving as a Membership Director.
Vicki Granger is a long-time LWVGP member and currently the Chair of our Communications Committee. She has served LWVGP in several capacities, including a stint as Chairs of the Nominating and Bylaws Committees, and has worked with Program and Membership. She has been involved with candidate forums, working as a question gatherer and question sorter. She worked closely with a group back in 2021 to restart our LWVGP Observer Corps, now the largest Observer Corps in the State of Michigan. She also worked with the Promote the Vote 2018 and Promote the Vote 2022 petition drives. In addition to her Communications responsibilities, Vicki is working on the Advocacy study group for senior citizen issues and with the Engage Democracy group. Vicki served for four years as a Director on the LWVMI Board.
A member of the Grosse Pointe Woods City Council since 1997, Vicki is the current Vice-President of Friends of the Grosse Pointe Public Library Board of Directors, and has served that group as President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
Vicki works in Communications at De La Salle Collegiate High School, enjoying the flexibility of working independently, and writes pieces for various media.
When not working or attending meetings, Vicki enjoys reading, playing mahjongg, bicycling, jigsaw puzzles, watching BritBox, crocheting, and traveling, as well as spending time with her three grandchildren.
Anastasia Koutsopoulos recently joined LWVGP and was a member of the current Nominating Committee. She has a career in Information Technology and in Real Estate, and holds several professional certifications and licenses. Her undergraduate degree is in Business and her MBA is in E-Business.
Anastasia believes in serving her community and volunteers with several Metro Detroit area organizations, giving back as much as she can. She hopes to use her talents with LWVGP where needed. In her spare time, Anastasia enjoys yoga, meditation, sewing, and traveling anywhere that has a resort and a swimming pool.
